Welcome to Star Chaser Sailing Adventures

SAIL THE ARCTIC with Boogie and Marlies!

Join Marlies and Boogie for a different sailing adventure this summer!

As of May, Boogie and Marlies will be running Polar Bear.

Polar Bear is a Challenge 72, one of the yachts that used to race around the world the wrong way in Chay Blyth’s Global Challenge Race. She is a steel yacht that is perfectly kitted out for all sorts of weather, especially the Arctic conditions that we will encounter this summer. Polar Bear came into worldwide fame when she was named Aviva and took Dee Caffari solo around the world. This means she is well equipped for shorthanded sailing as well.

Polar Bear will be doing a very exciting program, including the following Arctic adventures:

Shetland Islands    Lofoten Islands and Bodo (Norway)    Bodo – Jan Mayen – Iceland
Iceland – Jan Mayen    Greenland - Greenland    Iceland – West Scotland

After the Arctic season, Polar Bear will head south, via Cork and Madeira to the Canaries, where she will be prepared for this year’s ARC, racing against 3 other Challenge 72! This will be a fantastic race within a race and give the crossing that little bit of extra.

In January Polar Bear will return to Europe, crossing the Atlantic West to East, finishing in the Canaries where we will be based for a while doing some cruising and adventure trips around the Canaries and to the Cape Verdes!

There are some berths left on some of the Arctic/Greenland trips and we have just started to take bookings for the ARC.

So if you’re interested in joining us up north, down south or across the Atlantic, give us a call or drop us a line and we’ll let you know what is still available! Click HERE to E-mail us

If you would like some more information about any of the other endless sailing adventures that you can embark upon, please contact us as well!

Fair winds and we hope to see you on the water!

Insurance solution for sailors

A lot of our crew ask about travel insurance that will cover them while they are sailing, be chartering a boat in the Caribbean or crossing an ocean. The problem with a lot of the normal travel insurances is that they will not cover ocean sailing or costs associated with boat charters. We have worked with a number of different insurers, and can happily recommend Top Sail Insurance. Our (and our crew’s) experience with them is excellent and they have been very good in their service. They were also one of the few who covered crew that could not fly out last year to Antigua Sailing Week, due to the Icelandic Volcano.
